Small Self-Administered Schemes (SSAS)

Small Self-Administered Schemes (SSAS) were brought into existence in 1973. A SSAS is a flexible pension scheme designed for directors and business owners.

As a fully registered UK pension structure, corporation tax relief is available for allowable contributions made by the company.

The rules that a SSAS operates under are ideally suited to SMEs (small / medium sized entities). One of the many features of a SSAS is that they enable a scheme to potentially provide financial support to the company, and can include loans-backs, and the purchase of commercial property.

In addition following pension rule changes in 2015, it also offers the opportunity for directors to add their family as members. This creates a highly effective long-term tax-exempt trust, which can be used to provide valuable retirement benefits as well as tax exemption for both Capital Gains and Inheritance Tax and a valuable family wealth trust as well.

There are numerous and extensive planning opportunities available under this pension structure.
